Current Workplan / Update:
- Charities application is in progress
- We will have a fuel card system out soon we are going with Card Smart (formerly Kiwi Fuels)
- NZEIA is looking at changing our structure, it was originally on a Ward system. We are now looking at a Governance Board with a regional component. This will be similar to what we have now with additional executive members. The purpose behind the change is to meet the growing needs of our association. We forecast our membership will be at 500 members sometime next year. Our current membership has become too unwieldy for the current structure. We intend to develop and sustain additional committees to complement our Education committee. Additional Committee’s would be a Regional Committee, Finance and Membership committee, and a Regulatory Committee. The Executive team is supportive of this change to help share the effort required to run and maintain an organisation as large as ours.
- There have been a number of articles in the Electrolink regarding Electrical Inspection, EWRB, and Governance in general. We have written a briefing to the Minister of Energy and expect to hold a meeting with them to express our concerns.
- A number of inspectors have expressed concern about there being not enough face to face meetings. We have tried to facilitate local face to face meetings, but our attendances have been very low at these meetings. We need a better way to improve attendance numbers, keeping in mind the Ward reps are giving up their time to organize meetings.
- Our monthly Forum meeting held on Zoom is going very well and gains excellent feedback from our members.
